January 2, 2011 Thanks for the information on gay bars in Sacramento. The "tubs" in Bryte (now West Sacramento) was The Club Baths. The first one was in Reno and the largest one was in San Francisco at 8th and Howard. Steve's became The Steam Works. There is still one in Berkley. There was also a bar on 20th street between Faces and the Mercantile Saloon, called The Rose. The Topper on K street was known for being cited by the police because people would dance, and they didn't have a dance permit. Dale and Emerson, both gone, owned The Club Baths and The Hawaiian Hut. I worked at The Steam Works and The Club Baths in Sacramento and Bryte for a while.
